GENERAL SUMMARY
The Transportation and Global Logistics Instructor provides instruction and leadership in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) environment that prepares students for careers in transportation, logistics, supply chain management, warehousing, and global logistics. The instructor promotes student achievement, career readiness, and workforce development through engaging instruction, hands-on learning experiences, and industry-based practices. The position supports students in developing academic, technical, and employability skills aligned with South Carolina Department of Education standards and industry expectations. Reports to the CATE Administrator or designee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
Instruction & Student Learning
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with South Carolina CTE standards and district curriculum.
• Provide instruction in transportation, logistics, supply chain management, warehousing, and global logistics concepts.
• Integrate technology, industry practices, and hands-on learning opportunities into instruction.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs and abilities.
• Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and effective classroom/laboratory environment.
• Assess student performance and provide timely feedback to support academic growth.
Program Management & Career Readiness
• Support students in developing employability, leadership, and career readiness skills.
• Collaborate with business and industry partners to support internships, work-based learning opportunities, and industry certifications.
• Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grades, certifications, and student performance.
• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines related to CTE programs.
Collaboration & Communication
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, administrators, and community stakeholders.
• Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student success.
• Participate in school meetings, professional learning opportunities, and district initiatives.
Professional Responsibilities
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
• Participate in ongoing professional development related to transportation, logistics, and instructional practices.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management and positive relationship-building with students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the CATE Administrator, principal, or district leadership.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, transportation, logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field required.
• Valid South Carolina teaching certification or CTE certification required or eligibility for certification.
• Experience teaching at the secondary level preferred.
• Industry experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution, or supply chain management preferred.
Preferred:
• Industry Certification
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
• Experience with Career and Technical Education programs and industry certifications.
Knowledge & Skills
• Knowledge of transportation, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management principles.
• Knowledge of Career and Technical Education instructional practices and SCDE program requirements.
• Ability to analyze student data and implement targeted instructional strategies.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction and classroom management.
• Commitment to student success and career readiness.
Working Conditions:
• School-based environment with movement between classrooms, labs, offices, and meeting spaces.
• Minimal exposure to environmental hazards.
• Occasional travel within the district for meetings, training, or professional development.
