Job Description

Job Summary

An Early Learning substitute provides essential classroom continuity by performing the duties of a Teacher or Assistant Teacher during the absence of regular staff. This role is responsible for maintaining the daily routine, implementing established activities, and ensuring a safe, productive learning environment for students.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day classroom responsibilities for students (Birth to Age 5) to ensure no disruption in learning or care.
  • Exercise sound professional judgment to act in the best interests of student safety and well-being at all times while maintaining compliance with DCYF Childcare Licensing and Minnesota Department of Health standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by program supervisors or administrators to support the center's daily operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience providing age-appropriate care and education for children ages Birth to 5 years.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the flexibility to navigate the dynamic environment of a 4-star Parent Aware and NAEYC-accredited program.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and inclusive, respectful community building.

Position Details

  • Opportunities are available across three distinct programs:
    1. School-based Preschool
    2. Discovery Kids/Clubhouse Childcare
    3. ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education)
  • Hours: Variable based on program needs and staff absences.


    Compensation: $16.50 per hour
