Job Description
The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school community in Somerset County serving approximately 3,700 students in grades Pre-K through 12, seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic, and innovative professional for the position of Operations Secretary. The successful candidate will support the Director of Operations.
Qualifications/Responsibilities:
- Experience in accounts payable, preferably in a school district or public sector setting
- Scheduling and calendar management, including coordinating meetings, appointments, and internal logistics
- Communication support, including managing emails, phone calls, and routing messages to appropriate individuals
- Coordinate substitute custodial and maintenance coverage, including contacting substitutes when staff call out
- Document preparation and recordkeeping, including creating reports, maintaining files, updating databases, and ensuring accuracy of records
- Operational coordination, including tracking workflows, deadlines, and ongoing projects across teams
- Office organization, including ordering supplies, managing basic office systems, and supporting general administrative needs
- Serve as a liaison between departments, vendors, and leadership
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines tied to board meetings and payment cycles
- Strong communication skills for working with vendors, administrators, and staff
- Familiarity with systems such as SchoolFi, Genesis, Frontline Education, and Google Workspace preferred
Salary: $57,767 (minimum) to 71,747 (maximum) commensurate with experience
