Job Description
Safety Advisor serves as the single client point of contact for engineering EHS matters, ensuring project EHS objectives, KPIs, and targets are clearly defined and delivered. This role requires close collaboration with client stakeholders, project teams, and local EHS representatives to integrate site experience and requirements into design, assess EHS impacts of changes, and coordinate construction EHS activities including safe-to-start and pre-start-up safety reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder & Client Engagement – Engage with key client stakeholders and internal teams to define EHS goals and act as the primary client interface for engineering EHS.
- Training & Compliance – Verify project team has received correct EHS training (onboarding plan) to ensure EHS studies meet client standards.
- Site & Design Integration – Integrate site experience into design and work with Design Manager to assess EHS impact of changes.
- Construction & Start-Up Safety – Coordinate with Construction EHS Lead on safe-to-start and pre-start-up safety reviews.
- Contractor Selection & Deliverable Quality – Support Project Manager in selecting EHS study contractors; share deliverables with client/team for approval and design integration.
- EHS Reviews & Updates – Participate in design reviews, assess EHS impact, and update reviews after action closeout.
- Planning, Tracking & Reporting – Track progress against EHS delivery plan/schedule; update as needed; provide input for tier reporting and gate reviews.
- Milestones & Knowledge Transfer – Provide input for mechanical completion, Pre-Start-up Safety Review, and handovers; ensure EHS knowledge is transferred to end users.
- Issue Escalation – Escalate issues to the Project Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Engineering EHS, construction safety, or project-based EHS roles, including client-facing experience.
- Familiarity with design integration, construction safety, pre-start-up safety reviews, EHS delivery plan tracking, gate reviews, tier reporting, and contractor selection for EHS studies.
- Strong collaborator with a detail-focused, results-driven mindset; able to assess EHS impacts, participate in design reviews, ensure knowledge transfer to end users, and escalate issues to the Project Manager as needed.
- Proficient in English as a working language, with the ability to communicate effectively with international clients and project teams (reading, writing, and verbal).
- EHS Certificate preferred
