Revolution Workshop is a social enterprise that provides carpentry and woodworking

workforce development for unemployed or underemployed people in partnership with area businesses.

We deliver financial independence and careers through skills, hope, and resilience.


Direct Reports

This position reports directly to the Program Manager.

Position Summary

Revolution Workshop is looking for an individual with strong relationship skills, a commitment to client-

centered decision making, and dependable follow-through. The Employment Coach will play a key role

in maintaining strong relationships with employers and with our clients, to ensure that our clients are

attaining high-quality employment and are prepared for long, successful careers. Revolution Workshop

is in a period of growth, and we are excited to keep deepening our impact in the construction industry

and in our local community.

Work Environment:

This position is performed in a typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the

employee is exposed to construction dust, moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the

work environment is usually moderate.

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Occasional evening and/or weekend events

required and will flex hours accordingly.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Coach clients through their construction job search:


 Prepare clients for employment and retention in the construction industry, maintaining a job

placement rate of at least 90%

 Teach employment readiness classes, such as resume writing, interviewing, wage negotiation,

digital skills, etc.

Teach Construction 101 classes on construction career pathways. Provide transparent insight for

clients about the state of the construction industry

Assist clients in creating resumes, writing cover letters, and searching for jobs.

Conduct one-on-one sessions with clients to understand their career goals and coach them

through the process of achieving career success.

Observe clients in the shop during training and during work experience to provide constructive

feedback to teammates and to the clients themselves about work readiness.

 Motivate clients to take steps towards their own goals with a high sense of urgency

Assist trainees with learning how to network with construction company partners.

 Help coordinate employer presentations, job site tours, etc. to provide clients with a deeper

understanding of the construction industry.

Refer clients to job openings and provide the Business Engagement team with prompt follow-up

regarding any open positions.

Ensure data and grant compliance:

Prepare key documents for the program related to each client’s employment goals, barriers, and

skills.

 Responsible for collecting all grant-related employment documentation and inputting all data

into various databases based on funding and program needs (IWDS, Salesforce, etc.).

Work as a team member:

Collaborate with Instructors on client’s shop skills and job readiness.

 Collaborate with Case Manager on identifying and resolving barriers to employment

Collaborate with the Business Engagement team on job leads and job matching.

 Collaborate with Alumni Employment Coach on job readiness workshops and alumni

placements during slow seasons

 Collaborate with the Alumni team on alumni engagement and job readiness.

 Work with the RW team on the planning and development of Revolution Workshop programs.

 Other tasks assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications:

Required

Knowledge and experience working with underserved individuals through approaches that

emphasize resiliency, strength-based coaching, and trauma informed care

Excellent computer skills – Google G Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Gmail etc.), Microsoft

Office, Excel, ability to learn new systems and databases

 High sense of urgency to get trainees across the finish line

Ability to stay organized across multiple projects at the same time

Shared lived experience with our clients, or, at least two years’ experience working with racially

diverse groups

Understanding of barriers to employment

Excellent writing skills and interpersonal communication

 Recognize and respond to emerging priorities, allow for flexibility in your schedule

Must be available for evening events and occasional weekend events as needed


Preferred

Knowledge of construction industry (strongly preferred)

Bachelor’s degree or technical skills education

 Experience in workforce development or working with individuals to gain employment
