Job Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager & Manager, Food & Beverage or their designate, the Service Bartender plays a key role in supporting the Restaurant Dining Rooms and Bar operations by efficiently preparing high quality beverages for Servers & Guests in a timely and professional manner. The Service Bartender can be focused on back-of-house drink preparation and also be placed in guest-facing roles when required, where they will provide direct beverage service and hospitality in line with the guest’s hospitality experience at GCCRT. The ideal candidate will have strong background in preparing and serving alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment. Above all, this position must lead by example to create Great Experiences and Memories for all guests and colleagues!

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver, maintain, and exceed guest service quality standards as established by F&B Department
  • Demonstrate courtesy, commitment, and professionalism.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and provide friendly, professional, and enthusiastic service at all times.
  • Prepare and present beverages as per standards while maintaining high quality and hygiene.
  • Ensure drinks are made as per set recipes and all wastages and spills are tracked accurately in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to Smart Serve and Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) regulations.
  • Adhere to the company grooming and uniform standards, including being professional at all times while on duty.
  • Master Drink menu knowledge, including promotions to provide expert recommendations.
  • Oversee and train F&B General Helper in compliance with service excellence standards set by the F&B Department
  • Cover breaks for bartenders as assigned
  • Consistently uphold and demonstrate safety rules and standards as designated by F&B Department
  • Attend staff meetings/training as required to advance knowledge of menu, specials, new product/promotions, guest service procedures and initiatives.
  • Organize, operate, and control Bar to consistently deliver timely service and quality product.
  • Manage bar set up including cleaning, stocking, and setting up & closing down the bar.
  • Maintain clean and neat bar area, including removing all soiled dishes & empty bottles, sweep & mop floors.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment including ice wells and ice machines.
  • Use all equipment for its intended purpose in a safe manner.
  • Record sales and process payments.
  • Assume responsibility for all cash shortages as per policy and the collective agreement.
  • Order and control bar stock as per set par levels.
  • Conduct inventory and complete assigned check lists.
  • Receive and record food and beverage merchandise. 
  • Process all products for delivery through POS system.
  • Dismantle, clean, close, and lock bar and secure product at end of shift.
  • Complete all paperwork and reporting required for location including shift inventory.
  • Report all voids and spillages to Supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Foster teamwork by working harmoniously with co-workers, assisting with duties, while maintaining a high standard of guest experience
  • Advise Supervisor of any occurrences which may compromise or be damaging to positive customer relations.
  • Advise Supervisor of any occurrences which may impede operational efficiency.
  • Report any special occurrences or discrepancies to Manager &/or Supervisor
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improving service or operational performance to Manager &/or Supervisor 

Education and Qualification Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a team player attitude
  • Positive and personable attitude with a proven record of excellent guest service
  • Minimum 2 year's experience in full-service bars and restaurants, with at least 1 year experience in a bartending role required.
  • Previous work experience handling cash and POS system required.
  • Basic math, wine, & liquor knowledge.
  • Recognized course in Bartending or mixology an asset.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining Food Handlers & Smart Serve Certification.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining A.G.C.O. gaming license, as required

Work Environment Considerations: 

  • Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables; exposure to some conflict, distress and noise; 
  • This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 35 lbs.
  • The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
