Job Description

Job Summary: A Marine Fire Alarm Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and NAVSEA Standard items.
  • Working closely with the Craft Supervisor to install, test, and provide feedback of the systems safe operation. As required by NAVSEA Standard items and BAE Systems policies and procedures
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm components, including control panels, detectors, horns, batteries, and annunciators, to verify proper operation.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, test results and any related deficiencies or non-compliance issues observed, in accordance with NAVSEA Standard items.
  • Interact professionally with Ships Force personnel to schedule work, discuss inspection findings, address any concerns or questions, and provide recommendations for system upgrades or improvements.
  • Troubleshoot system malfunctions and perform repairs as needed, identifying, and resolving issues with wiring, circuitry, devices, and software.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
  • Must be capable of using various types of electrical multimeter testing device and or general-purpose test equipment.
  • Must have basic computer skills, using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel)
  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
  • Ability to go up steps on various navy platform and dry docks.
  • Must be able to work the following environmental considerations (Heat, cold, wet noise, humidity, and vibrations).
  • Must be able to work at height above 6 feet and tight/confined spaces.
  • Capable of lift 10 to 50 pounds, climbing stooping, bending, and kneeling.
  • Capable of reaching above the shoulders deck level and below.
  • Must have the grasping and fine manipulation of both right and left hands.
  • Must have the capability of understanding ship layout and compartments numbering systems.
  • Must be able to wear all require Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to drive and have reliably transportation.
