Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Springfield YMCA is looking to hire a PT Tennis Professional. We are looking for a seasoned professional to create new programming, capitalizing on retirees and adults outside of our established morning clinics. This candidate should also be able to take on some of the demand of private lessons during high season (winter). Hours are somewhat flexible, a few days during the week, from approximately 9am-2pm. Pay rate would be $25/hour per clinic and $35/hour for private lessons. This position will not start until September.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide tennis instruction relating to the techniques and strategies to members and guests to enhance broad-based member participation.
- Administer and enforce facility tennis policies and procedures.
- Maintain an accurate record of all lessons and clinics given; provide reports on a monthly basis.
- Promote all programs, tournaments and events.
- Assists in establishing and ensuring a wide variety of programs to meet the needs of the community and evaluates programs for effectiveness to meet future needs.
- Works closely with the Director of Racquet Sports, and Assistant Director of Racquet Sports and professional staff to ensure effective communication and operations of all programs.
- Adheres to the policies and procedures established by the management staff and CYEDC Board of Directors.
- Attends clinics, workshops, trainings and meetings as required.
- Maintains accurate records for all programs.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Models relationship building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings as required.
- Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven and progressive experience in leading and teaching tennis.
- Must be in good standing with USPTA (Professional rating or higher) or PTR (Instructor rating or higher).
- Minimum age of 18.
- Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 15 days of hire.
- Completion of required trainings.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
- Must be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety
- Able to lift and carry 15-50 lbs.
