What We’re Looking For
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current SC or Compact State license
- Minimum 3 years of RN within an Emergency Department
- Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills
Unit Description
The Emergency Department at Pelham Medical Center is a 24-bed unit with a 6-chair vertical care area. The typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4.

Minimum Requirements
Education
- BSN
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years nursing experience within the ED
License/Registration/Certifications
- Current RN Licensure in the State of South Carolina
- BLS, ACLS

Core Job Responsibilities
- Manages all nursing care given to the patients within the unit of responsibility to ensure optimal patient care. Will provide clinical services to patients as needed.
- Promotes and monitors department safety.
- Manages departmental products, supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
- Ensures the unit of responsibility maintains appropriate documentation.
- Pursues professional growth through continuing education and in-services.
- Abides by hospital policies and procedures; supports the mission of the hospital.
- Exhibits effective leadership and management behaviors.
- Delivers clear written and verbal communication to staff, patients, and families.
- Accountable for all phases of staff development including recruitment, orientation, retention, supervision, evaluation, and professional growth.
- Develops and maintains monthly schedule for staff
- Functions as mentor to staff on clinical issues and serves as a positive example to providers, employees, patients and families.
- Demonstrates clinical competence to practice within the Scope of Care for the Inpatient Nursing Units.
- Utilizes quality improvement as basis to improve departmental processes
- Applies the management concepts of planning, organizing, collaborating, and directing activities to implement the clinical nursing program in defined areas.
- Oversees the administration and delivery of medications and treatments as prescribed by an authorized licensed provider.
- Has direct responsibility for waived testing performed on the unit, which includes glucose monitoring and all point of care testing.
