Ensure compliance with government occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations. Focus on effective chemical management and the implementation of industrial hygiene practices in the workplace. Provide support for customer external requirements, including surveys and compliance monitoring
About the job:
- Responsible for promoting and implementing the company’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and industrial hygiene programs.
- Conduct occupational chemical safety training to ensure all associates are aware of the hazards associated with the processes they are assigned to.
- Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of the company-wide chemical management program, including the regular review and updating of the chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Conduct regular safety patrols, audits, and departmental inspections (Gemba) to ensure compliance with workplace material safety standards, regulations, and company policies; report findings to department leaders and recommend necessary improvements.
- Take the lead in developing emergency preparedness plans, including hazardous materials (HazMat) and fire safety programs, tailored to the company’s operational setup.
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Science/Chemistry
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing duties as a Safety Officer with involvement in industrial hygiene
- Principles and practices for evaluating and implementing comprehensive safety programs
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
- System auditing
- Effective interpersonal skills
