The ideal candidate combines tax acumen, analytical thinking, and technical expertise to drive continuous improvement and innovation across the tax function.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with department stakeholders to design and implement a centralized data collection solution that serves as a single source of truth for multiple tax filings and initiatives.
  • Aggregate, harmonize, and analyze transactional-level financial and operational data to support various analyses.
  • Develop solutions to extract data from disparate systems, standardize, and integrate it for accurate reporting and ensure successful import into tax-specific software platforms.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to support tax reporting, compliance, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and integrity checks across multiple systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support tax audits and regulatory reporting by preparing, structuring, and maintaining data to respond to taxing authority requests.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvements within tax data workflows and downstream systems.
  • Identify, prioritize, and help implement high-value tax technology, automation, and AI use cases, including support for pilot testing, user adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, internal analytics teams, and external partners to improve data quality, accessibility, and technology adoption.
  • Develop documentation for data processes, methodologies, and internal controls; provide training on standardized and repeatable procedures.
  • Build data capabilities and reporting tools that enable more real-time insight into business developments and their impact on the company’s tax position.

Key deliverable of the position will be the maintenance and construction of data transformation and analysis tools that help make data a strength of the tax department.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience in data analytics, data management, tax technology, finance technology, or a similar analytical role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Accounting, or related quantitative field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and structured data analysis; experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools is preferred.
  • Experience with SQL and at least one scripting or automation language/tool such as Python, R, VBA, Power Automate, Alteryx, or similar technologies is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with tax, finance, IT, and business stakeholders, including translating technical concepts into practical business language.
  • Demonstrated interest in using automation and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance analysis; hands-on experience applying generative AI or intelligent automation in a controlled business environment is preferred.
  • Willingness to work throughout the organization to establish foundational data collection and aggregation solutions for the tax department.
  • Ability and interest to learn about the tax process, how and where the data will be used and deployed within the process. Advocate for changes to the process that balance efficiency with completeness to meet or exceed all internal and external reporting and compliance needs.
  • Understanding of data privacy, security, and internal control considerations when using AI and automation tools with financial or tax-sensitive information.
