Chief Engineer
What this job involves:
As Chief Engineer at JLL, you'll lead the operational management and daily administration of an engineering team dedicated to safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively operating critical building systems and machinery. Your leadership will ensure the highest level of professionalism while meeting client needs and driving toward the goal of 100% uptime across all engineering operations. You'll be responsible for protecting and improving the value of client assets, ensuring building systems continue to perform their intended functions through the implementation and management of reliability-based maintenance programs. What your day-to-day will look like:
Monitor and maintain refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water systems, pumps, valves, piping, filters, and other mechanical and electrical equipment
Review operational logs to assure proper equipment function and report problems or malfunctions immediately, performing preventive maintenance tasks and overseeing HVAC repair and PM schedules
Ensure availability of adequate inventory of tools and supplies by preparing purchase order requests, developing sources for stock materials, and performing periodic inventory and equipment condition checks
Oversee activities of contractors working within the building as representatives of the facility or tenants, ensuring work quality and compliance standards
Identify safety hazards and incorporate remediation efforts to ensure staff and occupants work in a safe environment while implementing, administering, and managing safety training programs
Ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines related to building infrastructure operations and alert management of any discrepancies
Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation including up-to-date building drawings, single-lines, and documentation mandated by Federal, State, or Local law
Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, and personal development while ensuring the Critical Facility Work Authorization (CFWA) process is well-understood by all stakeholders
Provide training and support to expand operations staff capabilities through hands-on instruction in maintenance, safety, and troubleshooting procedures while instilling professionalism in manner and appearance
Required qualifications:
Associate Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
7+ years of facility-related work experience including customer service, leadership, and supervisory experience
Managerial experience leading technical teams in facility operations environments
Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes and understanding of construction planning and execution
Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation
Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, and contractors
Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
Preferred qualifications:
Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment)
Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent certification
Experience implementing reliability-based maintenance programs and maintenance best practices
Background in regulatory compliance management for commercial or critical facility infrastructure
