Position Summary
The Application Scientist serves as the primary technical expert supporting customers, commercial teams, and internal stakeholders across Pharma Analytics and Bioprocessing workflows. The role is responsible for demonstrating application expertise, developing customer-specific solutions, supporting technology evaluations, and enabling successful implementation of analytical and purification workflows.
The Application Scientist combines deep technical knowledge in pharmaceutical analytics with practical understanding of downstream bioprocessing and purification technologies to drive customer success, accelerate adoption of Thermo Fisher solutions, and contribute to business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Applications & Scientific Support
Provide technical expertise and consultation on Pharma Analytics solutions, including qPCR, Sanger Sequencing, impurity testing, adventitious agent testing, and related analytical workflows.
Support application development, method optimization, protocol troubleshooting, and workflow design for customer-specific requirements.
Design and execute proof-of-concept studies, feasibility assessments, and product evaluations.
Deliver technical presentations, seminars, workshops, and hands-on training programs for customers and internal teams.
Generate application data, technical reports, and scientific documentation to support customer projects and business initiatives.
Bioprocess Design Center Activities
Demonstrate and support downstream purification workflows within the Bioprocess Design Center.
Collaborate with customers to evaluate purification strategies and resin selection for process development and scale-up.
Support chromatography resin screening, process optimization, and workflow recommendations aligned with customer objectives.
Assist in showcasing integrated analytical and purification solutions through demonstrations, workshops, and customer visits.
Customer Engagement & Partnership
Build and maintain strong relationships with scientists, process development teams, manufacturing personnel, and quality stakeholders.
Understand customer challenges and provide consultative recommendations that improve process efficiency, analytical performance, and regulatory readiness.
Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer journey, from technology evaluation through implementation.
Collect Voice of Customer (VOC) insights and communicate market needs to product management and R&D teams.
Commercial & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and R&D teams to support strategic opportunities and drive revenue growth.
Provide technical support during customer meetings, product demonstrations, and opportunity qualification.
Contribute scientific content for marketing campaigns, application notes, technical collateral, and customer success stories.
Serve as the technical bridge between customers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
Market Intelligence & Business Operations
Maintain awareness of emerging trends in pharmaceutical analytics, bioprocess development, and downstream purification technologies.
Monitor competitor technologies and provide market intelligence to support business strategy.
Utilize CRM tools to document customer interactions, opportunities, technical activities, and project progress.
Support territory planning, forecasting activities, and business reporting requirements.

Qualifications
Education
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience
Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical analytics, bioprocessing, process development, or customer-facing technical roles.
Hands-on experience with qPCR and Sanger Sequencing workflows, preferably in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or regulated laboratory environments.
Understanding of regulatory requirements related to impurity testing, adventitious agent testing, and GMP-regulated workflows.
Exposure to downstream bioprocessing, chromatography, purification resins, or process development workflows is highly desirable.
Experience supporting customer evaluations, troubleshooting, application development, or technical consulting is preferred.
