
Inpatient Palliative Physician Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dedicated Palliative Care team. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments.
In this role, you will provide holistic and supportive care for patients with advanced illnesses —primarily in oncology, neurology (stroke, dementia, etc.), pulmonary (COPD, respiratory failure, etc.), and gastrointestinal diseases. You’ll be part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team focused on improving quality of life and managing symptoms.

You Can Expect
- 8:00 – 5:00pm Monday - Friday
- 6 – 10 patients per day, a mix of new admits and follow up patients
- 2 Physicians and 4 APPs
- Collaborate with families, patients, social workers, and care teams across the system
- Call – 1:4 one weekend a month and one weekday a week – calls are usually taken from home, will require coming to see the patient occasionally.
- A robust 2-3 month orientation process
Required Qualifications
- Experience with disease process
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with symptom management
- End of life care
- Advanced care planning

Required Education: Masters Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant School
Required Certifications and Licensures: Current licensure by the State of Virginia as a Physician Assistant ACLS (required only for LFM)
Experience: Minimum of two (2+) years of progressive experience in area of specialization
