Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and performance-driven Database Developer with deep expertise in query tuning and database optimization. You will be responsible for enhancing database performance, analyzing slow-running queries, and ensuring that our data infrastructure supports high-throughput, low-latency operations across applications and analytical workloads.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Analyze, tune, and optimize complex SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to indexing, execution plans, and data access paths.
• Design and implement indexing strategies to improve read/write performance.
• Monitor database performance using profiling tools and proactively address issues.
• Work closely with application developers to ensure efficient query design and proper database access patterns.
• Refactor poorly performing queries, views, stored procedures, and functions.
• Conduct load testing and simulate stress scenarios to test database performance under pressure.
• Maintain database statistics and ensure they are updated for optimal query planning.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to configure hardware, caching, and storage for performance.
• Write documentation on performance best practices, query standards, and optimization techniques

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proven experience in SQL performance tuning and optimization (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Strong understanding of query execution plans, indexing, partitioning, and caching strategies.
• Hands-on experience with profiling and performance monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, EXPLAIN plans).
• Deep knowledge of database internals, memory usage, and storage architecture.
  
• Experience with large-scale datasets and high-concurrency environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
   
• Preferred Qualifications:
  Experience with in-memory databases or columnar storage engines.
• Familiarity with database optimization in cloud environments (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP).
• Certification in performance tuning or database administration is a plus.
