The Systems Architect primarily works collaboratively to define the architecture of new and enhanced large scale FPAC information technology and database systems comprised of a multi-tier architecture and the integration of highly complex commercial software products and custom code in JAVA, JBoss and SQL Server to satisfy business requirements, while adhering to FPAC Reference Architecture, Security and FPAC Development standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems.
  • Design architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
  • Ensure these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures, the OSI and ISO reference models, and profiles of standards - such as IEEE OSE reference model - as they apply to the implementation and specification of information management solution of the application platform, across the API, and the external environment/software application.
  • Ensure that the common operating environment is compliant with the Agency enterprise architecture and applicable reference models.
  • Evaluate analytically and systematically problems of workflows, organization, and planning and develop appropriate corrective action.
  • Provide daily supervision and direction to staff.
  • Perform the following actions:
    • Provide design solution (including mockups)
    • Communicate and enforce common solutions across development teams involved into project
    • Review business requirements
    • Review project specification
    • Level 3 Code Review
    • Analyze reported issues/defects for common problems and solutions
    • Backup Contractor Technical Lead

Qualifications/Education:

  • > 10 years of relevant architecture experience for large scale information technology and database systems comprised of a multi-tier architecture and the integration of highly complex commercial software products and custom code in JAVA, JBoss and SQL Server.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related degree from an accredited institution.
  • Sun/Oracle Certified Architect or equivalent

Preferred Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language. All contractor employees must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Contractor personnel performing in a leadership capacity shall be capable of directing contractor personnel and interfacing with the Government and customers. 
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter expertise to management and others.
