Job Description
Position Summary:
Provides leadership, direction and administration of all aspects of company activities to ensure accomplishment of objectives set forth by the Chief Forensic Pathologist and Senior Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates with Chief Forensic Pathologist in charting and implementing the group's mission in response to the needs of the clients served.
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Chief Forensic Pathologist.
- Under the direction of the Chief Forensic Pathologist:
- Recommends, develops, and updates strategic plans to support the group's philosophy and goals;
- Administers policies and procedures for group administrative and support personnel;
- Coordinates efforts of professional staff in the recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of personnel;
- Represents the company in professional manner;
- Resolves identified administrative problems;
- Keeps lines of communication open to ensure a professional company atmosphere;
- Works with and encourages employees and eliminates processes which affect employee morale;
- Communicates with District Attorneys' offices, Coroners, appropriate law enforcement agencies, funeral homes, families, and others as required.
- Continuously review all factors affecting the cost of administration and the operation of the company. Takes necessary corrective action to keep costs commensurate with the corporation's objectives, or recommend appropriate action to the chief forensic pathologist or corporate management;
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the company's assets and property against loss or waste through negligence, theft, malfeasance, or dishonesty;
- Responsible for personnel matters; ensures proper documentation in cases of disciplinary actions. Hires and terminates employees under the direction of the Human Resources Director;
- Tracks office and autopsy supplies, manages inventory and approves supply orders;
- Assigns jobs and duties to office staff as needed;
- Manages staff schedules and completes payroll functions in a timely manner.
