Job Description
DevOps Engineer I – Infrastructure & Automation
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer I to join a hybrid operational team supporting
both Windows Server Infrastructure and Security Administration functions. This
role is ideal for an early-career engineer who enjoys solving infrastructure
problems through automation, scripting, and AI-assisted development rather
than repetitive ticket handling.
This is not a traditional “close tickets and move on” operations role. The ideal
candidate will think critically about root causes, identify recurring operational
pain points, and build sustainable solutions that improve reliability, security, and
operational efficiency across the environment.
You will work closely with senior infrastructure and security engineers while
gaining hands-on experience in enterprise server operations, automation,
monitoring, compliance, and incident response. After onboarding and training,
this role will participate in the team’s on-call rotation.
What You’ll Do
• Support enterprise Windows Server infrastructure and related operational
Services
• Assist with administration of security platforms, controls, and operational
processes
Troubleshoot infrastructure, authentication, automation, and operational
issues
• Develop automation, scripts, and operational tooling to reduce manual
effort and permanently resolve recurring issues
• Use AI-assisted tooling to accelerate research, troubleshooting, and solution
development
• Participate in patching, compliance, monitoring, and operational
maintenance activities
• Contribute to operational documentation, runbooks, and process
standardization
• Assist with incident response and participate in an on-call support rotation
after training
• Collaborate across infrastructure, security, and operations teams
Required Qualifications
Technical Experience
• 1–3 years of experience in systems administration, DevOps, infrastructure
support, or IT operations, or an equivalent combination of technical
education, certifications, internships, military experience, and hands-on
project work
• Fundamental understanding of Windows Server administration
• Experience with scripting or automation languages such as PowerShell,
Python, or Bash
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted tools for scripting, automation, and
operational problem-solving
• Familiarity with Active Directory concepts and identity management
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP,
certificates, firewalls)
• Experience troubleshooting server or infrastructure issues in production
environments
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, or ticketing systems
• Understanding of security best practices for infrastructure operations
Technical Mindset
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to research unfamiliar technologies independently
• Interest in automation and infrastructure-as-code concepts
• Desire to solve root causes rather than repeatedly addressing symptoms
• Willingness to learn enterprise operational and security processes
Professional Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced enterprise environment
• Willingness to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation after training
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Experience with enterprise automation platforms or orchestration tools
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines or DevOps tooling
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.)
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
• Experience with configuration management tools
• Familiarity with endpoint security, vulnerability management, or
compliance tooling
• Basic Linux administration experience
• Experience with REST APIs and automation integrations
• Exposure to Git or version control systems
• Understanding of infrastructure monitoring and observability platforms
• Experience using generative AI tools to create scripts, automate workflows,
or accelerate operational tasks
• Security certifications or Microsoft certifications are a plus
What Success Looks Like
• Automate repetitive operational tasks
• Reduce recurring incidents through engineering improvements
• Continuously improve operational processes and documentation
• Learn quickly and adapt across infrastructure and security domains
• Become a trusted contributor during operational incidents and on-call
events
• Use modern tooling and AI capabilities to increase team efficiency and
reliability
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is motivated by solving problems permanently instead of
repeatedly responding to the same operational issues. This person naturally
gravitates toward automation, scripting, process improvement, and root-cause
analysis.
Success in this role requires curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to continuously
learn across infrastructure, security, and operational disciplines. Strong
candidates will actively leverage AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency, accelerate, research, and develop scalable operational solutions while maintaining sound engineering judgment and accountability
