Job Summary
Artemis ARC is seeking a full-time Senior Strategic Communications Specialist to support communications initiatives for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. This role supports one of the federal government’s largest healthcare transformation efforts and requires expertise in strategic communications, executive messaging, stakeholder engagement, organizational change communications, and health IT modernization.
The ideal candidate will work closely with senior leadership, clinicians, operational stakeholders, technical teams, and government clients to develop and execute communications that educate and engage Veterans, VA providers, and employees throughout the EHR modernization process.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic communications plans, stakeholder engagement strategies, and organizational change communications supporting EHRM initiatives and enterprise transformation efforts.
- Create, edit, and disseminate communications products including executive briefings, talking points, newsletters, articles, presentations, toolkits, training materials, and digital communications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Draft executive correspondence, leadership messaging, presentations, and scripts while translating complex clinical, operational, and technical information into clear, audience-focused communications aligned with federal plain language standards.
- Collaborate with government leaders, clinicians, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to ensure messaging consistency, operational readiness, stakeholder engagement, and successful adoption of enterprise initiatives.
- Manage communications content on SharePoint and enterprise collaboration platforms, monitor engagement metrics, and recommend improvements to optimize outreach effectiveness and user engagement.
- Ensure all communications materials comply with Section 508 accessibility standards, organizational style guides, and established review and approval workflows.
- Develop success stories, outreach materials, and human-centered communications that highlight program impact, end-user experiences, and organizational priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Public Health, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in strategic communications, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, or healthcare communications.
- Experience supporting complex federal government initiatives, preferably within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and VHA.
- Experience with AP Style, Section 508 compliance, and federal plain language requirements.
- Demonstrated experience developing and measuring strategic communications plans and campaigns.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and executive communications skills.
- Experience developing executive-level presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting Electronic Health Record modernization, health IT modernization, clinical informatics, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and health IT systems.
- Experience with SharePoint content management, communications analytics, and enterprise collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies, organizational change management, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
