
Laboratory Supervisor - MedCenter High Point
Job Description
Essential Job Function:
- Reviews results of laboratory tests currently in process by running samples and evaluating patient samples for specific diseases or genetic conditions.
- Ensures new samples are received and inventoried, they are then sent to the correct clinical laboratory scientists.
- Monitors daily laboratory activities, maintaining consistent quality and production standards and addressing customer service issues to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Completes required annual competencies for test systems and oversees staff's timely competency completion, providing necessary training and remediation to uphold laboratory quality standards and regulatory compliance.
- Manages quality control and assurance measures to uphold the functionality of instrumentation and test systems and ensure accurate outcomes.
- Optimizes staffing levels and supply inventory within budget constraints to ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Performs and oversees testing processes across all phases (pre-analytical, analytical, post-analytical) according to established procedures, maintaining consistent and accurate results to guarantee the integrity of laboratory testing processes, contributing to patient care and diagnosis.
- Provides comprehensive guidance to staff, offering support in procedures, troubleshooting, and problem-solving, while also delivering training for new and current team members to build a skilled fostering professional growth and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.
Experience:
- Required: Four years of laboratory experience in a high complexity laboratory in designated specialty or subspecialty.
- Preferred: Two to four years supervisory or leadership experience.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification from one of the following upon hire: ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or AMT (American Medical Technologists).
