Shriners Children’s Chicago offers specialized care for a wide range of pediatric orthopedic, bone and joint conditions, including rare diseases and syndromes. Other specialties include spine and scoliosis care, plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate care, comprehensive rehabilitation and spinal cord injuries.
Job Overview
The Patient Care Services Administrative Assistant, under the supervision of the Market Director of Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive, assists in planning, organizing and implementing necessary activities essential to the administration of patient care services. This is achieved by performing administrative duties and by maintaining an orderly and efficient work environment.
The pay range for this position is $29.42/hour - $44.10/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Responsibilities
- Performs secretarial and clerical support for the Director of Patient Care Services and administrative staff and PCS Managers as directed
- Transcribes correspondence, types policies and procedures, memos, reports, budgets and other materials required for the Director and/or assigned staff in an accurate and timely manner
- Answers telephones, directs calls to appropriate individuals or departments; records and conveys clear messages and prioritizes incoming calls for the Director
- Schedules PCS departmental meetings as directed; notifies appropriate personnel; attends meetings, records and transcribes accurate meeting minutes in a timely manner.
- Provides back-up telephone support and secretarial support for Administrator, Directors and PCS Managers.
- Keeps calendar accurate and up-to-date, schedules meetings in an organized and timely manner. Balances department commitments and ensures schedules do not overlap.
- Screens telephone calls and greets visitors in a courteous and professional manner and directs them to appropriate individuals who can handle their request, question, or problem.

Qualifications
Required
High School diploma / GED
Intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Suite of products
Preferred
3-5 years administrative experience
