Role, Function & Organization
Work under the direction of the Department Supervisor or Branch Manager to perform pivotal functions in a challenging machine safety-oriented workplace. Develop automation and safety projects from concept to fruition using industry-accepted practices. Use creativity and work with the engineering team to develop concepts into plans. Work with the production team and field team to develop plans into deliverables. Develop quality control programs to ensure deliverables meet customer expectations. Organize and manage project documentation and provide quotes and scopes of work to customers. Perform on-site risk assessments and safety system validations. Work in conjunction with other machine safety personal located in other offices. Learn the machine safety business and grow the group in the Northeast. This position carries with it a legal responsibility and liability to machine safety that must be considered in every activity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Engineering:
Demonstrate a general understanding of the following:
- Perform Validations of SRP/CS
- Perform OSHA Press Inspections
- Interacting with CAD, Engineers and Lead Engineers
- Interacting with the customer
- Industrial controls and basic ladder logic
- Maintain files and quality checks
Familiarity with the following:
- Functional Specification
- Project reviews, construction support and field verification
- Safety hardware operation of distributed control systems
- Understand appropriate hardware and instrumentation for application
- Work with Project Manager to develop project plans consisting of budget, timeline, resource requirements, BOM’s, test forms, and other project documentation
Project Planning:
- Regularly executes projects on time and in budget
- Demonstrates a pattern of success on projects that leads to “call backs” from customers for future work
- Aware of opportunities for future work
- Work with Project Manager to track and manage project cost / performance
- Book own travel arrangements
- Schedule calls with customers
Training:

Willingly takes on tasks to be executed independently. Will self-train on new technologies

Work with design team to interpret specification to produce accurate drawings

Can train others on tasks

Coordinates work with one to two others, such as Applications and Engineers

Provide technical support for field installation and after-sale support

Assist in the coordination of projects with engineering and production team
Technical Support:

Phone support after and during normal hours

Assist in programming & configuration of computer / software systems

Assist in testing and validation of electrical assemblies and equipment

Assist in working with customers to solve technical issues with equipment
Continuous Improvement:

Perform internal projects, focusing on waste elimination and continuous improvement

Set standards and processes to streamline the design process
Personal Growth:
- Set goals for personal development and meet with supervisor quarterly to review progress
Resource Management:

Work with Department Supervisors and Project Managers for Resource planning and assigning of resources from design team to projects

Coordinate with counterparts in other branches for inter-branch support

Perform Development and Performance review with design engineers on an annual basis
Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:
- Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task
- Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents
- Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed
- Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel
- Legal responsibility and obligations held for this position
Qualifications and Requirements

Uses general understanding of automation equipment including PLCs, Operator Interface Systems, or Instrumentation. Applies knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals to produce electrical circuit design in accordance with NEC and UL508A when applicable.
Level I
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- Six months to two years of experience in industrial automation and/or training preferred. Safety Certificate is a plus but not required.

Level II
- Two to four years related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Safety Certificate is a plus but not required.
This position requires a decisive, independent worker that is occasionally directed, with a passion for hands-on work and a strong drive for owning project responsibilities. Must have a desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute immediately
Senior
- Four to seven years related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- TUV (CFSE, CMSE, FSE) certification required.
This position requires a decisive leader able to work independently and collaboratively with a passion for hands-on work and a strong drive for project management work. Must have a desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute immediately.
Lead
- Ten or more years related experience and/or training in industrial safety, or Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- TUV (CFSE, CMSE, FSE) certification required.
This position requires a decisive leader able to work independently and collaboratively with a passion for hands-on work and a strong drive for project management work, and mentorship of less experienced design engineers. Must have a desire to work in a team-based environment and contribute immediately. Experience, Skill and Abilities

- Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- General knowledge of industrial safety standards and governing bodies.
- General automation product & terminology knowledge. (PLC, HMI, SCADA)
- Ability to read and understand product manuals and electrical schematics.
- Ability to write detailed reports of inspections and validations.
- Ability to program safety hardware.
- Ability to read and interpret project specification information.
- Ability to read process & instrument diagrams.
- Office environment requiring sitting and standing.
- Travel to various construction sites is essential, exposing employee to outdoor elements, noise and the need to stand and walk.
- Reliable transportation required.
