The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.


What You’ll Do:
  • Manage the Industrial Operations team in Westminster, and support teams across multiple campuses (including but not limited to Boulder and Broomfield), supporting the Tactical Solutions SBU and the enterprise. This role will have functional responsibility for a team consisting of industrial engineers.
  • Maintain relationship with respective Strategic Business Units (SBU) to understand their technology roadmap to ensure Capabilities and Capacity exists to execute Programs and fold these requirements into future state plans and prognosis.
  • Participate in Strategic Facilities planning efforts for the enterprise.
  • Provide succession planning, hiring, training and career development input for the team.
  • Manage overhead budget, KPIs and metrics for Industrial Operations team.
  • Manage and improve systems and processes related to forecasting, factory modeling, capital planning and execution, and space planning processes.
  • Determine priority of projects and assign appropriate staff to the objectives.
  • Provide strategic planning details and forecasts to the Director of Facilities and other Operations leaders, for consideration of the strategic plan and vision.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Facilities Campus Managers to oversee Projects, Staffing, Capital Budget etc. across the campuses.
  • Develop, prepare and/or track departmental budget relating to the respective campus and be accountable for Overhead and Operational budgets.
  • Develop and evaluate personnel (including performance appraisals) to ensure the efficient execution of the facility strategy including capital projects, forecasts, factory models, and space plans.
  • Develop plans that meet the long-range needs of the company; provide Continuous Improvement to existing processes and future needs to optimize efficiency and use of capital, direct funding, and indirect funding, use analytical techniques, such as factory modeling and/or scenario planning, to explore the range of possible futures and the triggers used to analyze the company’s needs.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.


Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.


Short Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 10 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Low volume / high mix manufacturing experience is required.
  • Experience in facility expansion planning and design using the traditional Industrial Engineering tool set (block diagrams, material flow analysis, capacity planning, material handling systems, etc.) is required.
  • Proven understanding of financial analysis concepts and methods. Experience scoping and managing capital projects is required. Lean accounting knowledge desired.
  • Proficiency with basic office equipment and software including, MS Office, Excel, Word Outlook, Project, Visio, AutoCAD, PC, plotters, and other office equipment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills, and effectively work as a team player in a fast- paced, high volume environment.
  • Demonstrated work history of developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and providing exceptional, detailed customer service to multiple customers.
  • Proven ability to deliver creative and effective solutions, with the ability to effectively manage a high volume of related requests.
  • Proven history of regular attendance and schedule flexibility is required for this position.

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience including managing cross functional Project teams is preferred.
  • Direct functional management experience is preferred, including experience with hiring, career planning, addressing performance, providing constructive feedback and delivering performance reviews.
  • Understanding of Project Management skills & Knowledge of Project Services processes is preferred.
  • Direct experience with Lean Manufacturing, which includes both the business philosophy aspect as well as the "tool set" is preferred.
  • Background in electronics, software, machining, or similar work environments preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing modeling software or queueing theory preferred.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
