Job Description
The BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Strategy & Transformation Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the SMS aerospace—ensuring it is resilient, scalable, best in class, and mission‑ready. The leader will drive sector-level strategy and transformation across the end‑to‑end supply chain to support rapid sector growth, evolving customer demand signals, and the strict supplier standards required in high‑reliability environments.
This role leads modernization and best practice initiatives, fostering a people‑first environment grounded in trust, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. The position directly supports the SMS Procurement Lead by aligning strategic priorities, strengthening supplier relationships and performance, and ensuring the supply base is prepared to meet current and future mission needs.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
The Integrated Supply Chain team has a direct impact on program success, acting as a critical chain that links the end-to-end material flow together. Our organization helps propel us forward and achieve true mission partnership.
What You’ll Do:
- Define and lead the execution of integrated supply chain strategy and transformation initiatives that support SMS growth, strengthen resilience, and ensure customer success.
- Partner directly with the SMS Procurement Lead to align enterprise procurement strategy, drive supplier development, improve risk posture, and ensure readiness across the supply base.
- Lead transformation efforts across sourcing, supplier development, procurement, material planning, logistics, and digital capabilities to build a modern, scalable, and mission‑aligned supply chain.
- Champion a continuous improvement culture that enhances predictability, increases efficiency, and drives performance excellence across all supply chain functions.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Programs, Operations, and other BAE sectors to ensure alignment with SMS strategy, modernization efforts, and rapid production scaling needs.
- Build trust‑based relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, recognizing that supply chain performance is achieved through people, influence, and partnership.
- Lead and mentor cross‑functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, development, and shared success.
- Drive change management with a focus on communication, transparency, engagement, and adoption—ensuring new practices, tools, and processes take hold across all levels of the organization.
- Benchmark internal and external best in class aerospace and defense practices to identify strategic opportunities and elevate SMS supply chain capabilities.
- Strengthen cross sector collaboration to harmonize processes, improve decision‑making, and enable scalable, enterprise‑wide solutions.
- Support implementation and adoption of digital supply chain tools, predictive analytics, and advanced planning capabilities to enhance data‑driven decision-making and operational maturity.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Short Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
- Bachelor’s degree plus 10 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Proven experience leading complex transformation initiatives within program‑driven environments.Solid understanding of aerospace and defense supply chain requirements, including quality systems, traceability, oversight, and compliance (e.g., FAR/DFARS, ITAR, AS9100).
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build aligned strategies, and develop high‑performing, engaged teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate enterprise strategy into actionable frontline execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business preferred.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience with aerospace regulatory standards (AS9100, ITAR, export compliance).
- Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certifications.
- Background in supplier development, strategic sourcing, or defense industrial base readiness.
- Familiarity with digital supply chain tools, predictive analytics, or AI‑enabled planning.
- Excellent financial and business case development capability.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $134640 - $228888
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
