Job Description
Position Summary
Build your hands-on preservation trades skills at multiple Western Pennsylvania National Historic Sites through projects addressing a range of preservation needs, primarily carpentry and preservation maintenance. Crew members will have the opportunity to develop their skills in several preservation and general trades, including carpentry, window restoration, wood bridge repair, cedar shingle roof repairs, and other preservation maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate is excited about hands-on trades work and should be able to demonstrate or discuss their interest in the preservation field.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Projects will address a range of preservation needs, primarily carpentry and preservation maintenance, to include reconstruction of porch, railings and steps, window restoration, wooden bridge repair, picnic pavilion restoration and other preservation maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate is excited about hands-on trades work and should be able to demonstrate or discuss their interest in the preservation field.
Marginal Duties
Inventorying tools and equipment; light custodial and site management assistance including dusting and tidying up areas; covering and protecting materials and building components from harsh elements during weather events; assisting members of the visiting public with directions and site information while working on projects.
Required Qualifications
• Interest in historic preservation trades
• Age restrictions: 18 - 30 (or 35 for Veterans)
• Must be able to commit to project dates
• Ability to pass a background check
• Clean driving record.
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.
Preferred Qualifications
Some preservation, carpentry, or general trades experience; experience working on a team.
Hours
40 per week
Living Accommodations
Park housing will be provided.
Compensation
Living Allowance - $720/week
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
