JOB SUMMARY
Trailer Technician performs a variety of preventative maintenance tasks on the company assets. This position completes mechanical repairs to vehicles and equipment, complies with the preventative maintenance schedule, maintains appropriate work records and ensures safe practices, work quality, and accuracy.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
- Complete mechanical repairs to vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure safe work practices, work quality and accuracy.
- Comply with applicable safety policies and department procedures.
- Comply with the preventative maintenance program for vehicles.
- Perform or assist with the more difficult duties of the work unit, including complex mechanical equipment diagnosis and repair.
- Maintain appropriate work records and documents, which may include inspections, repairs, maintenance schedules and purchases.
- Responsible for training assigned personnel.
- Schedule, perform and maintain inspections records.
- Carry out the removal of hazardous waste and recycling materials.
- Immediately report any unsafe practices or safety violations and make corrections.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems
- Experience with various hand tools
- Must have own tools
PREFERRED SKJILLS & QUALIFICAITONS
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)
- Valid class A or B commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- Department of Transportation (DOT) inspector’s license or the ability to acquire one
- Welding or fabrication experience
REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTFICATIONS
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Record of safe driving for the last three years
