Customer Support Engineer - Thailand/Malaysia

Position Summary

The Customer Support Engineer position is a critical role that bridges the gap between field support and R&D Controls engineering. The person in this position will provide valuable and timely remote support for TARGAN field personnel working at various customer sites globally. In addition, the Customer Support Engineer will also serve as a conduit for further refinement of the controls and electrical systems that comprise TARGAN machinery. 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Remote monitoring of TARGAN sites globally. Monitoring will include the use of:
    • Internet cloud-based dashboards
    • Machine access via specialized gateway
    • On-machine dashboards
    • Controller (PLC) logon, if needed
    • Other software tools
  • Installation of WingScan systems.
  • Servicing systems in Thailand, Asia and the Middle East.
  • Training of local Field Service Technicians in the home region.
  • Emergency visit when local Field Technicians need support
  • Remote controls troubleshooting as part of a global remote monitoring team.
  • Support different working shifts with a wide range of working hours and potential for travel.

Key Competencies & Skills 

  • Candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot remote PLCs via network connection.
  • Candidate must have a generalized understanding of troubleshooting electro-mechanical machinery.
  • A competent understanding of Ethernet networks.
  • Capable of reading and understanding schematic diagrams, line drawings, etc.
  • A baseline understanding of industrial controls languages such as ladder, structured text, and function block diagram.
  • A baseline understanding of Human Machine Interface (HMI) software, reading tags from a PLC, and similar.
  • Ability to log into PLC and HMI systems, if necessary, to help troubleshoot remote systems.
  • Good communications: working with field technical personnel, engineers, and others.
  • Understanding of industrial fieldbus systems such as EtherCat or Modbus TCP
  • Ability to program HMI and/or PLC systems 
  • Familiarity with schematic design software such as AutoCad Electrical or Solidworks Electrical to assist with device modifications 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science or similar. Candidates with associate degrees, or no degree will be considered based on experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in an engineering support role. In lieu of support experience, work in a production environment producing industrial machinery or similar will be considered. Candidates that don’t meet the education requirements but have more experience will be considered.

Working Details

  • The employee will support 3rd shift U.S. time.
