Job Overview
The CEPG Controls Team Supervisor will assist the CEG Programming Manager in providing direction and delegating work to the Controls Technician(s) while continuing to execute controls work. Will lead, mentor and direct the activities and tasks of the Controls group. Be responsible for leading the team to timely and successful projects while empowering individual team members to maintain ownership of their assigned tasks. Position assists multiple facets of the Custom Equipment Group programming team by working closely with specialists involving high level supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), database systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to fully integrate systems for sophisticated automated manufacturing equipment. Individual must have the ability to learn the Integrity/Infinity product offerings and legacy enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to understand the relationship between individual parts, finished products and how the systems integrate across all product lines within the organization.
Highlights of your role
- SUPERVISION - Provide direction and assist in overseeing all functions of the controls group and interaction with our Automation Systems, Maintenance, IS and overall Operations while continuing to execute controls work. Participate and facilitate interviewing potential candidates, training employees, planning, leading and delegation of workload balance, evaluating work, assist in rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- RESEARCH/FORWARD THINKING - Assist in the research, analysis, installation and testing of automation control systems to improve machine efficiency and advance current systems to meet project and future production demands while maintaining feedback loops and end user training. Provide input to controls components/devices, software, database, graphic display and external system interface requirements while adhering to company standards and alignment with IS strategies.
- TROUBLESHOOTING/RESOLUTION/PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE - Ability and skill set to diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and programmatic problems of equipment and facilities in order to provide solutions to ensure equipment and processes are continually operational. Provide input for preventative maintenance rule sets for common recurring issues to enhance equipment and facility effectiveness. Support the Marvin companies, as applicable, to analyze current operational procedures. Identify user problems and systems needs to make improvements or resolve issues with our internal customers
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT - Must possess project management skills while executing to a timeline for successful projects or proper resolution.
- RELATIONSHIPS - Liaison and critical resource between our vendors and new or modified equipment to ensure control panels, wiring schematics, components and general controls/electrical practices align with our General Specification and procedures. Build and maintain internal relationships across all functional departments.
- COMMUNICATION - Strong, proactive communication skills are an expectation along with the responsibility for creating a team environment while training and mentoring others to ensure we win as a team.
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
- Working knowledge of manufacturing software (ICIM) and Microsoft Office Suite is required, as is experience with PLC and Operator Interface programming languages
- Familiarity with standard networking technologies and hardware
- Knowledge of SCADA and control systems and components used for automation equipment
- Knowledge of data communication protocols, industrial protocols, and computer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux
- Four year degree is preferred, or one to two years of related experience/training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
