Job Title: Director of Donor & Partnership Development 

Position Classification: Exempt 

Reports to: Chief Development Officer



General Function:


The Director of Donor & Partnership Development will play a critical role in helping the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City (BGCGKC) achieve its vision by helping to manage day-to-day fundraising activities for BGCGKC. This position will be tasked with activities related to the stewardship, cultivation and solicitation of the corporate, individual donor community, including in-kind donors. Through direction from the Chief Development Officer, this position will implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating philanthropic support. Director of Donor & Partnership Development will expand and diversify BGCGKC’s donor base and align it with current and future programs. 


Primary Responsibilities and Activities:

 

RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT

  • Utilize ‘moves management’ fundraising principles to actively cultivate and solicit targeted corporate, individual, & community prospects 
  • Manage and execute the organization’s direct mail and on-line solicitation program, including campaign planning, vendor coordination, list segmentation, timelines and tracking to ensure completion. Overall goal to ensure regular updates are distributed among our donors.
  • Direct and manage community partnership creation and activations between Resource Development and the Programming Department, ensuring collaborative execution, clear communication, and measurable impact.
  • Expand the relationship and fundraising base through affinity events with donors and conduct exploratory meetings with targeted prospects to determine their interests and capabilities. Discuss ways to create win-win situations through sponsorships and other financial contributions 
  • Manage the donor-recognition and impact-reporting function that demonstrates how financial gifts fuel the work of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City 
  • Provide cross-functional collaboration within the Development Department by assisting with a range of initiatives, projects, and tasks to ensure efficient operations and advancement of fundraising goals across the department.


LEADERSHIP

  • Successfully and strategically manage a portfolio of 40-50 significant donors and prospects aimed at securing funds (combination of corporate and individuals) does not include grants 
  • Support the “culture of philanthropy, gratitude and appreciation” and help in managing the stewardship process 
  • In partnership with Chief Development Officer, guide the development of fundraising standards and tools, based on best practices, to ensure effectiveness, quality and innovation in fundraising


Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, advanced degree preferred 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience managing nonprofit programs and fund development 
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning experience 
  • Strong track record of successful fundraising, demonstrating measurable results 
  • Extensive experience working with individual and corporate donor bases
