JOB SUMMARY
The Strategic Intelligence and Advanced Analytics Engineer drives the development and application of enterprise strategic intelligence and growth analytics. This role is responsible for advancing strategic intelligence, strategic performance, and advanced analytics, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, to support informed decision-making. The role synthesizes complex data to generate actionable insights, identify emerging trends, and inform strategic initiatives that strengthen the Health System's competitive positioning and long-term growth. It also supports the continuous evolution of analytical frameworks and modeling efforts, refining methodologies to enhance predictive capabilities, improve decision-making, and unlock new opportunities for innovation and efficiency.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree in business analytics, data science, computer science, or related field
- Experience
3 years of progressive experience in analytics, data science, business intelligence, or related roles within the healthcare industry and
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills and
Hands-on experience with data analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven insights

MBS/MS or related advanced degree
- Experience

Hands-on experience with advanced analytics, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and AI-enabled analytics Experience designing and applying natural language processing capabilities and intelligent agents using modern analytics tools against curated datasets to enhance strategic insights and decision-making Proficiency with Python and SQL, with experience using BI and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau Working knowledge of key analytics and machine learning libraries including scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, Matplotlib, and Pandas Experience with cloud-based analytics and modern data platforms such as Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake
JOB DUTIES
- Design, build, and maintain curated datasets, semantic layers, and AI- enabled data products (e.g., governed tables, metrics, and data models) to support strategic reporting, analytics, modeling , and NLP-driven data exploration.
- Implement and monitor data quality controls (validation rules, anomaly checks, reconciliation) and maintain documentation to ensure reliable, reusable analytics outputs.
- Develop and operationalize advanced analytics models where appropriate, including deployment/automation, scheduled refresh, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with IT and data engineering partners to define data pipelines, access patterns, and delivery methods that enable secure, scalable analytics products.
- Lead initiatives to consolidate and integrate internal and external strategic data assets, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and usability across the health system to support enterprise decision-making.
- Drive the collection, analysis, and interpretation of healthcare data to generate strategic insights and support performance improvement efforts.
- Develop and leverage analytic models to assess the value of services, competitive positioning, and alignment with organizational goals and market dynamics.
- Create analytical models leveraging publicly available data to assess and monitor external market conditions.
- Develop in-depth analytics at the service line level to evaluate performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support strategic decision-making.
- Synthesize data to generate insights that inform service line development and enhancement strategies.
- Partner with analytics and technical teams to promote effective analytical practices, knowledge sharing, and adoption of modern analytical approaches.
- Develop and apply a strategic intelligence framework in support of UT Southwestern‿s clinical destination that delivers forward-looking intelligence used to inform and guide decision-making.
- Lead the design and execution of advanced analytics initiatives, including predictive modeling, machine learning applications, and data visualization solutions that provide actionable insights.
- Develop analytical approaches that support UT Southwestern‿s strategic positioning in the pediatrics and adult markets.
- Contribute to the development of self-service analytics and reporting tools that enhance users‿ ability to access and interpret strategic information.
- Support the execution of strategic analytics efforts that inform enterprise and service line decision-making.
- Contribute to the development of growth analytics data and reporting content, including market planning, market share, demographics, and other growth-related analyses.
- Collaborate with enterprise vendors and internal partners on the acquisition, analysis, and presentation of data assets related to strategy and growth, and support the integration of these assets into analytical tools.
