Location: Quincy, IL
Pay Range: $16.92 – $25.38 per hour | Based on Relevant Experience
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, daytime hours (some variability based on clinic needs)

About the Role:

Quincy Medical Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant Scribe to support our Ophthalmology team by ensuring precise documentation and efficient patient flow. This role is ideal for someone who values accuracy, consistency, and mastering technical details.

 

You will work closely with physicians to document patient visits in real time, assist with ophthalmic testing, and help maintain organized, compliant medical records. Your attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes will directly support quality patient care and provider efficiency. Travel to outreach locations, including Kirksville, will be required.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Ophthalmic Assistant Scribe documents patient encounters in the electronic health record in real time, ensuring complete and accurate charting of history, exam findings, assessments, and plans. This role assists with rooming patients, gathering medical history, performing ophthalmic pre-testing, and preparing patients for provider evaluation. The position requires careful review of documentation for accuracy, updating patient information as needed, and maintaining strict HIPAA compliance. You will follow established clinical workflows, support providers with order entry and documentation tasks, and help ensure charts are complete and ready for billing and follow-up. Travel to designated outreach clinics, including Kirksville, MO, is part of the role.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Experience in ophthalmology, medical assisting, or clinical documentation preferred
• Strong typing skills and comfort working in electronic medical records
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to follow established workflows and documentation standards
• Professional communication skills and ability to work closely with providers
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to outreach locations, including Kirksville, MO
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and compliance standards
