
Charge Nurse- Nights/ Sign on Bonus
Job Description
*We have a $2500 SIGN ON BONUS *
$1250 will be paid out after 90 days of employment and $1250 will be paid out after one year of employment
JOB DESCRIPTION -
Responsible for providing direct patient care and functions as part of the Nursing Team. Under the Nurse Practice Act, the Inpatient Rehab Charge Nurse is responsible for using the nursing process for systematically assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to maximize restoration and maintenance of the patient’s physical, psychological, spiritual health and goals. The Charge nurse for the shift is the assigned leader for the unit and in charge of coordinating the seamless flow of the unit during shift.
In addition to direct patient care of assigned patients, the charge nurse for the shift is responsible, but not limited to the following:
• Taking direct patient care assignments.
- Coordinating admissions.
• Coordinating discharges.
• Facilitating patient transfers for transfers, surgeries, exams, procedures and follow up appointments to other facilities.
• Managing patient telemetry monitoring/strips.
• Making the shift assignment and coordinating staffing for call-ins/emergencies.
• End of shift report to next charge nurse and DON
• Ensuring patient baths are completed as assigned.
• Daily crash cart checks (Day shift).
• Ensuring ALL ordered lab specimens for the shift are drawn and sent to the correct lab.
• Ensuring lab are resulted and communicated to MD.
• Perform or delegate administrative duties such as chart thinning, filing, restocking supplies and forms etc.
• Rounding on patients to ensure excellent patient care.
• Address patient /family concerns, complaints, or questions. Notify or escalate ALL patient concerns to DON.
• Joint Commission readiness audits as needed.
• Oversee interdisciplinary coordination of patient care with nursing team, doctors, RT, PT, OT, ST, Pharmacy, and other professional personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment required
- Current BLS certification required
- Current ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire
- Minimum 1-year previous inpatient rehab experience required
Additional Qualifications/Skills:
- Previous acute care experience is strongly preferred
- Ability to project a professional image
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions
