Overview:

BETA is a self-clearing securities processing solution for wealth management firms. Built on years of expert knowledge and hands-on experience, BETA provides critical back-office controls including corporate action management, middle office exception management, and front office account management and trading tools for advisors.

Data Governance Discipline has a great opportunity for an experienced data governance specialist to help implement and mature the data governance function. The focus is to inspire and guide data stewards' community to enrich the business glossary, track data stewardship work, assist with metadata catalog, and drive resolution of data challenges. Our objective is to mature data governance capability to provide meaningful information for governance users and clients. The role is responsible for working directly with data stewards, subject matter experts in both the business and IT to map data definitions and consumption, populate data governance tool, and maintain the firm’s metadata information. The candidate must be a detail-oriented person with strong analysis and documentation experience to support the full data lifecycle in large enterprise settings.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on work experience to grow the enterprise-wide data governance program. Plus, promotes a data governance culture throughout the organization.
  • Establish effective work connections across the organization to identify and track governance and metadata management deliverables.
  • Identify and define data domains and elements including both business and technical definitions.
  • Identify and drive metadata requirements for data projects. Verify metadata for accuracy and monitor accurate implementation onto the Data Governance Application.
  •  Enrich and maintain enterprise metadata. Including metadata documentation for data catalog, glossary, data lineage, domain hierarchy, and data taxonomy.
  •  Ensure data assets are searchable and understandable to users and clients.
  • Serve as Data Governance Specialist to co-champion governance capability; and prepare data stewards to actively perform their ongoing responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills to interact on a regular basis with Engineering, developer, and data stewards. Comfortable communicating with, and requesting information from, all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analysis, critical thinking skills, and organized to resolve work challenges, actively look for solutions to resolve challenges and mature enterprise data governance. 
  • Clear writing and documentation skills to create data governance dashboard, data steward’s scorecard, Describe technical and business use cases, and other governance related communications.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and SME’s on production support, govern new data sets, track milestones, and review deliverables.
  • Work with security, legal, and Compliance regarding regulatory and governance topics such as data governance standards, data masking, Procedures, and access management.
  • Includes access controls, Private data teams to support data security/access/privacy requirements for new projects; assist with policies, procedures, and standards for information management throughout its lifecycle.
  •  Work with lines of business to identify and solve data integrity and quality issues, recommend data quality improvements, and establish metrics/dashboards for tracking performance of critical data elements.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data management field and tools. Hands-on experience in enrichment and support of data governance practices / capability (via automated governance tools).
  • 5+ years of experience in system development life cycle, as well as familiarity with Agile and Scrum processes.
  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • Understanding of relevant statutory frameworks applying to data privacy and governance, such as CCPA, GDPR, etc.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and terminology related to data structures and data processing.
