HUB International’s Private Equity Practice is seeking an Associate Producer to help scale a $4M+ practice that serves PE funds and their portfolio companies across commercial insurance, employee benefits, and retirement plans. This is not a traditional insurance role. It is a high-growth position built around sales support, systems building, and client service excellence within one of the most sophisticated buyer segments in the market.
The right candidate will work directly alongside the Practice Leader, gaining mentorship from a top producer while building the operational infrastructure that enables the practice to grow from $4M to $7M-$8M over the next three years. This role offers a clear path from associate to producing partner, with real commission-based upside that compounds over time.
You will be client-facing from day one, engaging with PE partners and associates who expect responsiveness, polish, and strategic thinking. You will also be expected to bring a systems-oriented mindset—leveraging AI tools, CRM platforms, and automation to create repeatable, scalable workflows that multiply the practice’s capacity.
What You Will Do
Sales Support & Client Engagement (40%)
- Build polished, client-ready presentations, pitch decks, and proposals from start to finish.
- Prepare meeting materials and follow-up communications for PE fund meetings and portfolio company engagements.
- Manage ongoing client service coordination across property & casualty, benefits, and retirement plan workstreams.
- Represent the practice in client-facing interactions with PE partners, associates, and portfolio company leadership.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including service teams and other specialists, to bring the best resources HUB has to clients.
- Track deal pipelines, manage CRM activity, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks during active deal cycles.
Systems Building & Automation (30%)
- Design and build AI-powered research workflows using tools like Claude, PitchBook, and CRM platforms to identify target funds and portfolio companies.
- Create automated processes for market research, competitive intelligence, and prospect identification that scale beyond manual effort.
- Develop and maintain marketing content, social media presence, and outbound campaigns using technology-driven approaches.
- Continuously improve operational efficiency by identifying manual processes that can be systematized.
Learning the Business & Producer Development (30%)
- Shadow the Practice Leader in client meetings, deal negotiations, and relationship-building engagements.
- Develop fluency across commercial insurance, employee benefits, and 401(k)/retirement plan products as they apply to PE transactions.
- Learn how insurance integrates into the M&A process: due diligence, post-close onboarding, and ongoing portfolio management.
- Progress toward independent production, taking ownership of smaller accounts and eventually building your own book of business.
Required:
- 3–5 years of professional experience in a demanding, client-facing, analytical, or sales support role.
- Exceptional work ethic. You respond during off hours to keep deals moving forward, including weekends.
- Technical proficiency in creating professional presentations, written communications, and client-ready deliverables.
- Critical thinking and independence. You identify problems, propose solutions, and execute without constant direction.
- Professional presence. You can walk into a meeting with a sophisticated client and hold your own.
- Intellectual curiosity and a bias toward learning. Insurance and PE knowledge are teachable—hunger is not.
- Problem-solving ability and creative thinking within the framework of M&A deals and a corporate structure.
- Self-starter who is not afraid to ask questions.
- Patience to learn the process and develop.
Not Required:
- Insurance industry experience or licenses (these will be obtained post-hire).
- Private equity or M&A technical knowledge (this is learned on the job).
- A specific academic background—what matters is how you think, not what you studied.
What We Offer
- Direct mentorship from a top-producing PE insurance specialist with deep market relationships. You will learn how to prospect, cultivate relationships, think strategically, and work across all types of insurance so that you will eventually run M&A deals yourself.
- Exposure to one of the most sophisticated buyer segments in the insurance industry.
- A clear, transparent path from associate to producing partner with real income upside.
- Entrepreneurial environment within a large platform—build something meaningful without startup risk.
- Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k).
- Flexibility earned through performance—results matter more than rigid schedules.
The expected salary range for this position is $88,500 - $110,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages: health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits such as vacation, sick, and personal days, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
