About the Role

Join our dynamic Development Team for an internship focused on Volunteer Program Coordination and Nonprofit Development! This internship is ideal for juniors, seniors, or recent graduates looking to gain valuable hands-on experience supporting volunteer recruitment initiatives, donor cultivation, and program effectiveness across the agency. Interns will have the chance to learn from industry professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and build your network within a fun and inclusive culture.

Interns are expected to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, along with a strong foundational understanding of trauma and its impact on youth. Position may require some evening and weekend commitments. This is an in-person internship based at our Albany Park location.

Internship Schedule & Duration

  • Start Date: August 2026
  • End Date: November 2026
  • Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week, 2–3 days/week, based on the intern’s academic schedule

Intern Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and placement of volunteers.
  • Help maintain accurate volunteer records and databases.
  • Contribute to the development of volunteer appreciation initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating volunteer program effectiveness through surveys and feedback.
  • Participate in outreach efforts to promote volunteer opportunities.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.
  • Support special events, in-kind drives, and volunteer-led initiatives.
  • Communicate with volunteers via email, phone, and in-person to provide support and updates.
  • Help develop and distribute volunteer communications and materials.

  • College junior, senior, or recent grad
  • Highly motivated student with a passion for gaining experience in the nonprofit sector, specifically in Nonprofit Management and Program Development.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – MS Teams and SharePoint are a plus.
  • Passion for working with youth and learning more about the social service sector.
