About the Role:
The Bus Driver with a Class B license and P endorsement plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of passengers across various routes within the United States. This position requires operating a "straight" bus, while adhering to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations. The driver is responsible for maintaining a high standard of safety, providing excellent customer service, and managing schedules efficiently to meet operational demands. Additionally, the role involves performing routine vehicle inspections and reporting any mechanical issues to ensure the bus remains in optimal working condition. Ultimately, the bus driver contributes to the community by facilitating reliable and secure transit services for all passengers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement issued by the state of residence.
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents within the past three years.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug screening.
- Strong knowledge of local and state traffic laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with passengers of diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience driving passenger buses ,"straight buses" or similar commercial vehicles.
- Familiarity with GPS and route navigation technology.
- Customer service training or experience in a public-facing role.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a Class B bus with P endorsement to transport passengers safely to designated locations according to scheduled routes and timetables.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and report any mechanical or safety issues promptly.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring a courteous and professional experience.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe environment for passengers and other road users.
- Maintain accurate records of routes, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or delays encountered during trips.
