S'more about the team:

As a Food Safety Specialist (HACCP), you will be a key part of our Food Safety team, focusing on the development, implementation, and maintenance of our HACCP system for meal kits. Reporting to the Food Safety Systems & Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our HACCP programs and prerequisite plans meet current regulatory requirements and internal standards across all national operations. This role requires a proactive approach to verification, documentation, and continuous improvement, as you work closely with various teams and regulatory bodies to uphold the highest standards of food safety.

Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for:

  • HACCP System Management: Maintain and update the HACCP system (Pre-requisite and HACCP plans) to ensure alignment with current regulatory requirements and company policies for all facilities nationwide.
  • Verification Activities: Conduct and document on-site verification activities for food safety programs, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
  • Documentation and Procedures: Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and forms as needed, based on HACCP system reassessments, new product launches, ingredient changes, and process modifications, including the validation of new or updated processes.
  • Scheduling and Planning: Develop and manage the annual HACCP system reassessment and validation schedule.
  • Audits and Inspections: Assist with internal, CFIA, and third-party audits and inspections. Accompany CFIA inspectors during their SIP tasks.
  • Issue Resolution and Investigation: Assist in the investigation of customer and consumer complaints, and help develop and submit timely responses.
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting: Track and trend HACCP system performance data and provide input for management and periodic review meetings.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

  • 2+ years of experience in food safety, with a strong focus on HACCP and regulatory compliance, including experience with HACCP plan validation.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as Food Science, Biological Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in developing, maintaining, and reviewing HACCP plans and food safety documentation.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, including CFIA requirements.
  • Experience with internal and external audits, including BRCGS, SQF, or similar standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and capable of working independently to drive food safety initiatives.
  • Ability to travel domestically as per business requirements (approximately 10 - 20%).
