Job Description

Join the Tilt team

At Tilt, we see a side of people that traditional lenders miss. Our mobile-first products and machine learning-powered credit models look beyond credit scores, using over 250 real-time financial signals to recognize real potential. With millions of customers worldwide, we're not just changing how people access financial products — we're creating a new credit system that backs the working, whatever they're working toward.

The Opportunity: Licensing Specialist (Contractor)

Tilt is hiring a Licensing Specialist to help build and sustain our state licensing operations. This is a contract engagement with a clear scope: execute a defined pipeline of state license applications, help stand up Tilt's in-house licensing function, and provide ongoing support for renewals and regulatory reporting on a flexible, part-time schedule. The work is administrative by design — and that's exactly the point. This role is built for someone who has already built a professional career and wants meaningful work that fits their life, not the other way around.

Contract Details

  • Hours: ~30/week for the first ~8 weeks, then ~10–15/week ongoing (with natural fluctuation based on filing cycles)

  • Duration: Indefinite

  • Location: US (fully remote)

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Drive the licensing application pipeline: Own the end-to-end coordination of a defined slate of state license applications — tracking deadlines, managing data collection, and keeping submissions complete and accurate across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Keep existing licenses current: Coordinate updates and amendments to active licenses as business needs evolve — tracking state-specific requirements, gathering documentation, and ensuring filings stay accurate.

  • Build the in-house licensing function: Help establish Tilt's internal licensing operations — building trackers, documenting workflows, and creating the institutional knowledge the team can rely on long-term.

  • Write guidance non-specialists can actually follow: Develop clear, step-by-step instructions for key stakeholders on their licensing compliance obligations.

  • Own ongoing renewals and reporting: After the initial sprint, maintain the annual renewal cycle and support regulatory reporting on the reduced-hours schedule — reliably.

Why You're a Great Fit

  • Strong project coordination instincts — you take a list of requirements, identify what's missing, and drive to completion without being asked twice. Systems and checklists are your natural habitat.

  • Clear written communication — you can write step-by-step instructions a non-specialist can follow without assumed context or background.

  • Available for a variable schedule: roughly 30 hours/week for the first 8 weeks, transitioning to 10–15 hours/week ongoing, with natural fluctuation based on filing cycles.

  • Background in operations, events coordination, project management, or any detail-intensive professional environment. Experience with government filings or permitting (any industry) is a genuine plus. No licensing or financial services background required.

  • Proactive and self-directed — comfortable operating independently on well-scoped work, and equally comfortable surfacing issues or blockers when they arise.

Don’t meet every qualification? We care about potential over your past. If you're bringing ambition and drive to what we're building, we want to hear from you.

What you'll get at Tilt

  • Virtual-first teamwork: The Tilt team is collaborating across 14 countries, 12 time zones, and counting. You’ll get started with a WFH office reimbursement.

  • Competitive pay: We're big on potential, and it's reflected in our competitive compensation packages and generous equity.

  • Complete support: Find flexible health plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards.

  • Visibility is yours: You can count on direct exposure to our leadership team — we’re a team where good ideas travel quickly.

  • Paid global onsites: Magic happens IRL: we gather twice yearly to reconnect over shared meals or kayaking adventures. (We’ve visited Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City, to name a few.)

  • Impact is recognized: Growth opportunities follow your contributions, not rigid promotion timelines.

The Tilt Way

We're looking for people who chase excellence and impact. Those who stand behind their work, celebrating the wins and learning from the missteps equally. We foster an environment where every voice is valued and mutual respect is non-negotiable — brilliant jerks need not apply. We're in this together, working to expand access to fair credit and prove that people are incredible. When you join us, it's not just another day at the [virtual] office, you're helping millions of hardworking people reach better financial futures.

You’re pushing ahead in your career? We can get behind that. Join us in building the credit system that people deserve.
