The UHealth Laboratories Department has an exciting opportunity for a full time Cytogenetics Technologist Lead to work in Miami, FL. The Cytogenetics Technologist - Lead provides technical and functional leadership within an assigned laboratory area while continuing to perform advanced cytogenetic testing. This role supports workflow coordination, staff guidance, and operational quality initiatives.


CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Performs advanced cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic testing at a high technical level.

2. Oversees daily workflow and work distribution within an assigned laboratory section.

3. Provides technical guidance, coaching, and support to technologists.

4. Reviews cytogenetic test results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to reporting.

5. Develops, validates, and implements new testing procedures and methodologies.

6. Monitors turnaround times and supports corrective action efforts.

7. Assists with operational planning and workflow optimization initiatives.

8. Participates in reviewing and updating laboratory manuals and SOPs.

9. Monitors equipment performance and ensures maintenance documentation is completed.

10. Maintains inventory levels of reagents and supplies for assigned areas.

11. Supports inspections, CAP surveys, proficiency testing, and regulatory activities.

12. Assists with staff training, competency assessments, and performance input.

13. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
Valid State of Florida Molecular Pathology Technologist license required
