Electrician
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Maintenance
Purpose of the position:
Identify electrical needs for all buildings and grounds located within the school system

1. Correctly identify service needs as to electrical system size, voltage, phases, etc...
2. Install, repair, and perform electrical upgrades at existing facilities and for portable classrooms
3. Upgrade and renovate electrical services according to blue prints, schematics, and diagrams
4. Prepare and install underground wire
Strategic Goal Area IV�Continuous System and School Improvement
1. Attend job-related training classes and workshops
2. Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Maintenance

1. Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia
2. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance /timeliness
3. Complete assignments and requirements on time and in compliance with directions
4. Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records and file reports promptly
JOB STANDARDS (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions):
1. A minimum of four years in-field experience or technical degree in electrical repair and
construction plus two years infield experience
2. Familiar with the National Electrical Code and Southern Building Codes
3. Independent work ethic
4. Possess a valid driver's license
5. Climb extension ladder carrying a maximum of 50 pounds
6. Alternatives to the above as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
FLSA: Non-Exempt
JOB LOCATION (Place(s) where work is performed):
All facilities in school system
EQUIPMENT (Machines, devices, tools, etc..., used in job performance):
Basic hand tools; power tools; phase, light and multi-meters; and electrical personnel lift
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE (Needed for this job specifically):
1. Ability to read electrical schematic, blue prints, diagrams and electrical manuals for specific
electrical jobs
2. Ability to use proper meters to complete task correctly
3. Working conditions for maintenance employees:
a. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop and reach
b. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods
c. Must be able to work in confined spaces periodically
d. Must be able to push, pull, or lift at least 50 pounds
e. Must be able to read various forms of written documents and must be able to recognize
different signs and symbols related to general maintenance
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Marginal tasks performed by incumbent of this position):
1. Maintain and care for a well-organized and clean vehicle
2. Maintain and care for tools and equipment
3. Calculate job cost and make material work list
4. Maintain warehouse area and basic inventory of electrical supplies
5. Operate computer work order system
