Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Construction Inspection Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support the delivery of large-scale bridge infrastructure projects across Alberta. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on complex bridge construction projects, while developing the skills needed to progress toward a P.Eng designation.

This position is based on-site at different project locations and could require working outside Edmonton for extended rotations.

What You’ll Do

As part of our construction team, you will:

  • Support the inspection of bridge construction and rehabilitation projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, standards, and safety requirements
  • Monitor contractor activities and document daily construction progress
  • Assist in reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and senior engineers
  • Participate in resolving technical issues and field challenges
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures are followed
  • Prepare inspection reports, field notes, and documentation
  • Travel to remote project sites and work independently in a structured team environment

Work Environment

  • Remote project locations across Alberta, accommodations and expenses provided
  • Rotational schedule (e.g., multi-week assignments – details provided during recruitment)
  • Travel to and from site arranged or supported

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related discipline
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an EIT in Alberta
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote project sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Alberta Transportation (or similar agency) bridge projects
  • Familiarity with construction inspection standards and contract administration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in remote environments
  • Commitment to safety and quality
