Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Role Overview
As a senior leader within Black & McDonald, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with business leaders to strengthen our brand, support growth objectives, and shape how we communicate with employees, clients, and the market.
The Director, Marketing & Communications is responsible for enterprise‑level marketing, communications, and digital strategy across multiple service lines and geographies. The role partners directly with executives to plan, develop, and deliver strategic initiatives that support business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Communications Leadership
- Plan, develop, and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies aligned with Black & McDonald’s business objectives
- Provide internal and external communications materials that promote corporate priorities, market positioning, and growth initiatives
- Act as a trusted strategic advisor to executive leadership and senior stakeholders
- Lead and project‑manage high‑impact, cross‑functional initiatives from concept through execution
- Implement marketing and communications programs across multiple channels (digital, social, events, internal platforms, external campaigns)
Business Enablement & Communications
- Partner with business development, sales, and operations to support pipeline growth and market expansion
- Support go‑to‑market strategies for new services, sectors, and regions
- Analyze market trends, competitive insights, and performance metrics
- Oversee external communications, including corporate announcements, campaigns, and reputation‑building initiatives
- Ensure consistency of messaging across business units, regions, and platforms
Digital & Social Media Leadership
- Own Black & McDonald’s corporate social media presence
- Develop and implement social media strategies that support brand awareness, thought leadership, recruitment, and business development
- Utilize social media management tools to monitor performance and optimize engagement
People Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary marketing and communications team
- Foster collaboration across Marketing & Communications, operations, and other corporate functions
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in marketing & communications
- Proven experience working in complex, matrixed organizations
- Strong B2B and professional services marketing background (engineering, construction, infrastructure, or industrial sectors preferred)
- Demonstrated success partnering with executive leadership
- Excellent written, verbal, and executive‑level communication skills

The expected salary range for this role is between $140,000 - $170,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
