Job Description

The HSSE Advisor will plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.

  • Serve as the primary HSSE point of contact for Night Shift operations, supporting leadership and workforce on all safety, health, security, and environmental matters.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of applicable HSSE policies, regulations, and industrial processes and ensure their effective application.
  • Participate in the review of JSEAs and Risk Assessments, identifying hazards and providing safety and environmental guidance to night shift operational teams. 
  • Verify workforce JSEA understanding through pre‑job briefings, field engagement, and documented acknowledgments.
  • Participate in investigations of workplace incidents, injuries, and occupational diseases, including employee interviews, to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Report or review findings from incident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
  • Inspect and audit facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation and management system compliance.
  • Lead HSSE projects as assigned and the implementation of policies and initiatives.
  • Conduct or coordinate worker HSSE training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to the companies’ lagging indicators.

REQUIRED

  • Minimum of three (3) years of safety experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position requires the ability to work evening‑to‑overnight hours, primarily from 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM. Hours may vary and will include rotational shifts and/or weekend coverage to ensure full support for a 24‑hour operational environment.
  • Valid TWIC Card or ability to obtain within first month of employment. 

 

DESIRED

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). 
  • Associate degree in Safety Technology, Occupational Health, and Safety or HSSE Certification.
  • Train the Trainer.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety field.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customers and personal services.
  • Solid computer skills in the basic office suite programs.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced atmosphere and detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment.

Working Conditions 

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night. 
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place. 
  • Work surface is stable (flat).
