Project Overview:
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trent, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the US.
The Kilby CCGT project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year.
You will act as the Field Engineer Civil on the upcoming Kilby CCGT Project. You may start in the home office in Reston, Houston or Pecos, TX, as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when you will locate on a long-term assignment to Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.
Job Summary:
In this role Field Engineer - Civil (Earthworks & Undergrounds) you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-RM1
Major Responsibilities:
- Performing inspections and initiating supporting documentation for all discipline system installations on an ongoing basis.
- Providing support to field supervision in establishing requirements for workforce, tools, equipment, and material requirements for a given work evolution
- Developing installation work packages for scopes of work in support of the construction schedule
- Preparing short- and long-term schedules, and interfacing with superintendents and other discipline field engineers
- Executing field material takeoffs from "Issued For Construction" drawings
- Providing input to the quantity tracking applications and reporting on weekly installed quantities to Project Controls
- Preparing field material requisitions for equipment and materials, and monitoring status of purchase orders and deliveries
- Assisting field procurement in receipt inspection and reporting of associated equipment and materials and preventive maintenance requirements
- Trouble-shooting the design, resolving issues with engineering and/or fabricator using formal field documentation processes
- Ensuring all installations are per latest revisions of design drawings, specifications, standards and codes
- Completing and verifying quality documentation per inspection and test plans
- Completing and reviewing as-built documentation
- Monitoring actual work performance compared to the project budget and schedule
- Providing “day-to-day” direction and coaching to direct reports
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience in the absence of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams
- Experienced implementing and utilizing Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Experienced with Bechtel BSAP systems.
- Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site.
