Job Summary:
The Fulfillment Center Assistant Manager oversees all daily operations of their facility when the fulfillment center manager is not present. This includes, but is not limited to, the receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely distribution of goods. They ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and inventory. They ensure productivity targets and service level agreements (SLAs) are met, and computerized inventory systems are properly maintained. The ability to lead a team, maintain high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations, and provide impeccable customer service to our clients is a must.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Personnel Management
- Develop and mentor team members to optimize performance and career growth
- Set performance expectations and hold staff accountable for meeting targets and deadlines
- Communicate organizational priorities and ensure staff understanding of operational requirements
Strategic Operations & Planning
- Assist in the management of facility operations, including planning and resource allocation
- Oversee compliance with all company rules, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Represent fulfillment operations in cross-functional meetings and client communications
- Manage the delivery of products to ensure they meet SLA guidelines
- Manage the maintenance of all vehicles, machinery and equipment
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Establish and maintain health, safety, cleanliness, and security standards for the facility
- Oversee quality assurance processes and ensure all distributed goods meet usability standards
- Implement corrective action plans and monitor compliance
Inventory & System Management
- Direct proper maintenance of computerized inventory systems and documentation
- Authorize inventory adjustments and approve system entries
- Review and approve inventory reports and reconciliations
Client & Vendor Relations
- Manage client communications and resolve service issues independently
- Direct relationships with logistics partners and vendors
- Monitor external performance against service level agreements
- Escalate strategic issues and make decisions affecting client satisfaction
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce and interpret operational reports and statistics (daily, weekly, monthly, annual)
- Analyze performance data and present findings to management
- Make recommendations based on data analysis
- Other duties assigned
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a High School diploma/GED
- Prefer previous experience working in a fulfillment center or warehouse
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Extremely reliable with a great attendance record
- Strong Computer skills with knowledge of various computer programs (i.e. Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-moving team environment
- Strong ability to follow policy and procedures
- Ability to stay focused and work in a team environment
- Basic math skills required
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong independent decision-making skills
Work Environment:
- This position requires the employee to work in a fast-paced environment. This position may require standing for a prolonged period.
- The employee will work at a desk, using a computer and printer. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Open plan work area.
Physical Demands:
The role typically requires significant walking, and the ability to lift, push, and pull inventory. Regular movement around the mailroom, interacting with employees. Lifting up to 20 lbs, carrying/moving stock, using a pallet jack.
