Summary
Provides support to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) Marine Light Attack Helicopter (HMLAT)-303 Corrosion Control, Tool Room, and Organizational Level (O-Level) Maintenance on H-1 aircraft in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP), applicable technical data, and federal contract requirements.
Senior-level aircraft mechanic/Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) supporting H-1 aircraft Quality Assurance operations.
Essential Functions
- Monitor all programs that fall under the QA work center as directed by the Government.
- Review incoming technical publications and directives to determine their application to the Maintenance Department.
- Assist in the certification of production personnel.
- Participate as members of technical task forces to investigate trouble areas and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Review the qualifications of personnel nominated to become CDIs or
- CDQARs and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Review and investigate hazard reports, per Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Instruction (OPNAVINST) 2750.6, received from other activities which may apply to the unit.
- Assist division officers and work center supervisors in the preparation of Discrepancy Reports (DRs), reviewing all entries for adequacy and correctness prior to the AMO approval.
- Provide technical assistance to CDIs and production personnel who are required to make QA decisions.
- Periodically accompany CDIs on inspections to evaluate their performance.
- Review Maintenance Data Reports (MDRs)/ Naval Aviation Logistics Command Management Information System for Organizational Maintenance Activities (NALCOMIS) reports/inquiries, Maintenance Action Forms (MAFs), Work Orders (WO’s), DRs, and hazard reports for discrepancy trends and specific problem areas in areas of responsibility.
- Conduct final inspections upon completion of tasks requiring certification by QARs.
- Ensure personnel are briefed about the Tool Control Program (TCP) and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention program requirements and report discrepancies to the TCP and FOD prevention program managers.
- All certified QARs will be Mechanic IIIs. The Contractor shall refer to squadron SOPs for QAR certification requirements.
- Provide QA augmentation in support of HMLAT-303 aircraft.
Duties
- Perform complex aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and modification
- Document maintenance actions in aircraft logs and approved maintenance systems
- Lead and provide technical guidance to lower-level mechanics
- Ensure compliance with Tool Control, FOD, safety, and quality programs
- Perform Launch and Recovery Operations
- Perform and inspect airframe, flight control, hydraulic, pneumatic, and landing gear systems
- Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and directives
- Troubleshoot and repair aircraft avionics systems
- Document maintenance actions per NAMP requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Completion of the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Management Information System (NALCOMIS) (Optimized) Organizational Level Maintenance Activity (OMA) Quality Assurance Administration course (Course C-555-0046) required
- 4+ years H-1 aviation maintenance experience required
- 7+ years airframe, avionics, or powerplant aviation maintenance experience
- 7+ years H-1 or similar aircraft maintenance experience preferred
- 10+ years rotary wing maintenance experience preferred
- 7+ years’ experience with NALCOMIS/OOMA preferred
- Basic Corrosion Control Course preferred
- Advanced Corrosion Control Course/Paint and Final Finish preferred
- Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS) Course (NATEC provides) preferred
- Previously certified H-1 CDQAR preferred
- Must be able to work, day, swing or mid shift as required
- Former CDI/CDQAR preferred
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing and walking for extended periods, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces. Requires sufficient manual dexterity and vision to use tools and inspect aircraft systems. Must be able to work in high-noise environments, wear required PPE, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Compensation
- $45.99/hour + $6.25 H&W
