Sacred Heart Catholic School is seeking seasonal, part-time summer program child care workers for our 2026 Camp Seaside Program! 


Employment Status: Seasonal Part-Time

FLSA: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Reports to: Summer Program Coordinator


Job Summary:

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Supervise children at all times, maintaining a secure, safe environment for children to play and learn in. 
  •  Supervise and train assistants in your room on policies, procedures, and regulations. 
  •  Provide positive feedback to students. 
  •  Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
  •  Participate in dismissal procedures ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (i.e., an authorized adult).
  •  Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
  •  Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  •  Support and adhere to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
  •  Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
  •  Demonstrate professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
  •  Maintain a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well-ordered environment.
  •  Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Coordinator.
  •  Ensure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid

IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:

  •  Maintain current and accurate records according to school policy.
  •  Collaborate with peers to enhance the work environment and support instruction.
  • Follow directions and handle multiple tasks.
  •  Possess proficient technology skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  •  Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
  •  Work well with others in a school community.
  •  Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  •  Motivate and engage students in the learning process.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  •  Required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment.
  •  Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger.
  •  Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.
  •  Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading.
  •  Required to monitor students in a variety of locations.
  •  Be able to adapt to continuously changing, fast-paced environment and make the children’s needs the primary focus. 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Coordinator.

 

Education 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience 

  • At least 18 years old 
  • One (1) year of experience in a childcare setting (preferred)

Other Requirements 

  • Use xcellent communication skills.
  • Be a team player.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
  • Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
  • Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening.
