Job Description
Summary
The Yard Spotter shuttles equipment within the distribution center premises as needed. Work to coordinate moves based on priorities directed by dispatch, shipping and receiving supervisors. Maintains a neat and orderly yard, anticipates trailer needs based on receiving schedule.
D Shift (6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, every other weekend required)
Responsibilities
- Moving trailers on property as directed by supervisor and clerks in all warehouses
- Moving trailers as needed from CRC Warehouse to Twin Falls yard
- Verifying seals
- Performing trailer safety checks including, but not limited to, sliding tandem axles (if required).
- Expected to Red Tag trailers if needed
- Performing one full yard check at least once per shift
- Utilizing Vector to track and trace all trailers in and out of Chobani
- Reporting all OOS and damaged trailers to carriers or Logistics Coordinator daily
- Must obey any and all applicable traffic laws while conducting its operations on behalf of the customer
- Follow all facility traffic and safety rules as required by specific facilities
- Will be required to adhere to appropriate training records and sign off procedures as required by each facility
- Communicate with OTR Drivers as needed to facilitate correct dock door, trailer issues and/or load discrepancies
- Participation in continuous improvement processes
- Keep all drop yards organized daily
- Maintaining an effective Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) schedule for equipment.
- Very physical and fast pace work environment while remaining focused on safety at all times
- Follow Chobani’s safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices
Requirements
- High school Diploma, GED
- CDL Class A preferred
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related state and federal regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization, with customers and external vendors
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
- Ability to use applications on tablets and laptops
- Must be able to use and communicate via emails
- verifiable tractor-trailer truck driver and trailer backing experience required
- Safe driving record; No DUI, DWI, or impaired driving in the last 7 years, No more than 3 points on driving record at time of hire
- You must be comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Must be able to work on your feet for up to 12 Hours, and work overtime and weekends as needed
- Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 60 pounds
- Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance
- While performing the duties of this job, the technician is regularly required to talk and hear in person and while utilizing a 2-way radio. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, and climbing all day
