Location: Portsmouth, can be UK flexible working a hybrid pattern with regular UK travel

Salary: Circa £98,000 dependent on skills & experiences + executive package

Role description:

Leading and supporting multiple, diverse teams delivering site infrastructure and facilities services, ensuring safe, effective operations across a UK-wide portfolio. Shape and implement operating strategy, oversee maintenance and capital projects, and set policies that align with organisational goals. Provide visible, inclusive leadership, resolving complex challenges and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including shared services and customers, to meet requirements and drive continuous improvement. Manage resources, planning, and cost base, reporting on performance across all sites. Represent facilities interests at senior forums, prepare work packages, and ensure delivery of programmes that support business objectives.

Core duties:

  • Representing the business unit at sector and global level; active member of the SF&I Council
  • Ensuring compliance with all legislative, regulatory, financial, and contractual requirements; accountable for estate-wide governance
  • Building and sustaining SQEP capability, aligning workforce planning with IBP through structured capability and succession planning
  • Leading supply chain delivery across FM services, including catering, cleaning, maintenance, and waste management
  • Developing and delivering asset lifecycle, maintenance, and site infrastructure strategies, including long-term master planning
  • Fostering inclusive, collaborative cultures; manage performance, develop talent, engage stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement and risk management

Essential skills:

  • Extensive experience delivering infrastructure projects and portfolio management within large, complex organisations
  • Proven accountability for managing significant or multiple budgets, ensuring effective financial control and value delivery
  • Track record of leading business change and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience managing complex, multidisciplinary teams, fostering inclusive and high-performing environments
  • Degree-level qualification in Site Infrastructure, Environmental Operations, or equivalent and/or relevant professional experience in facilities, infrastructure, or estate management
  • Knowledge of CDM and NEC contracting, alongside formal leadership and management qualifications (preferred)

The Site Facilities & Infrastructure (SF&I) Team:

This role will be working as part of the MS Manufacturing & Operations Function which is responsible for Health & Safety, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Planning & Control, people (circa 2200), processes & tools and Site Infrastructure and Facilities. The SF&I team are spread across our UK sites supporting a range of activities to enable delivery of our wide range of Products and Services. The teams are mostly Project Managers driving many investments ranging from maintenance, plant and equipment to significant construction projects. It is a growth area for the business with major investments planned in the medium and long term, also we are driving for increased capability and professionalising this function.
