The Role and the Team
As a Sales Engineer at PPG, specializing in Adaptive Email Products (Security, Misdirected and Exfiltration) and Impersonation Protection (Email Fraud Defense, Secure Email Relay, etc.) and User Protection Products (Collab Protection, Account Take Over and ZenGuide). You will play a substantial role in building and sustaining customer relationships while driving the adoption of these solutions.
As a Senior Sales Engineer you will work closely with commercial and extended teams to support the acquisition of new revenue from existing and prospective customers, focusing on the technical alignment of our product and how we address our customers threats. The Senior Sales Engineer role at People Protection Group will be impactful, visible, and rewarding
Responsibilities
- Works hand-in-hand with the Commercial teams to develop and deliver customer solutions, supporting the broader Proofpoint sales team to hit sales targets.
- Seeks to build deep, consultative relationships with their customer, effectively becoming a trusted adviser
- Ideally positioned to understand the customer's high-level business objectives, and match these to the solutions in the group to satisfy the business and technical requirements
- Comfortable presenting Adaptive Email, Impersonation Protection and User Protection’s value proposition, technologies, strategy, and product roadmaps to all levels at their customer including executives, technical management, and technical engineers
- Continuously develop and expand the knowledge of customers' business and mission
- Create and present solutions that address customers' needs using the People Protection products portfolio along with third-party solutions
- Once an opportunity is identified, the Senior Sales Engineer is a critical member in developing the opportunity and moving it towards closure
- Responsible for developing expertise delivering the technical competitive intelligence for our sales team
- Seek to expand their technical expertise and knowledge of Proofpoint’s People Protection technologies, industry direction and trends via enablement and internal training offerings
- Responsible on enabling the broader Proofpoint Sales Engineers and act as a Specialist and Go to person for everything around People Protection solutions
- As a group, Sales Engineers communicate and collaborate with their peers and colleagues on trends, product feedback, customer stories, etc. This will include the creation of technical content and artifacts as well as owning the technical product feedback loop with the product and engineering teams Typical Activities will include:
- Building high-level design and architecture drawings
- Technically validating the solution with the customer
- Leading any demonstration or Proof of Value (PoV) activities
- Assisting with the preparation of a proposal, Due Diligence and RFP processes
- Helping the AE develop business cases and ROI/TCO justifications required to get support to drive business forward
- Enablement of the broader Proofpoint Sales Engineers
- Build processes and tools that will allow us to be more efficient and effective running our regular activities

- With a strong affinity to technology and sales
- An enthusiastic self-starter with an outgoing personality, comfortable working both independently and in a team setting
- A confident presenter with the ability to demonstrate material to audiences with varying levels of technical capability
- You have been in the high-tech industry for 3 years in a Pre-sales or customer-facing consulting capacity or have other relevant technical experience that demonstrates your relationship building skills
- Experienced in working with commercial teams and is comfortable with quota driven performance management
